The situation
Two plants, two outages, one corridor
Leibstadt and Beznau are less than ten kilometres apart, and both outages fall in spring. In that period two overhauls bring extra specialists into villages of a few hundred inhabitants. Anyone who starts looking in spring finds nothing left nearby, or pays hotel rates per person and night. On the German side of the Rhine, opposite both plants, there are whole flats for a fraction of that.

Kitchen, washing machine, own bathroom. Art. 3 of the German Posted Workers Act requires accommodation of a locally customary standard, more under Standards and compliance.
Parking at the door
Vans included. Tools and materials stay in the vehicle overnight, and the vehicle stands directly outside the unit.
Priced in euros
You pay in euros to a German contracting party. Utilities included, VAT shown separately, one collective invoice per month.

For both plants the route runs over the Rhine bridges at Koblenz and Zurzach, both open around the clock and as a rule without waiting. For registering your people in Switzerland the eight day notification rule, and for the posting itself the A1 certificate.
The plants and their surroundings
How booking works here
Not by construction progress, but by the outage schedule.
Four weeks, from spring
The outage lasts around four weeks and usually falls in May. Bookings are taken from autumn onwards for the whole period. Free more than 8 weeks before arrival, 10 per cent after that. Once per booking, to a replacement date within 6 months, subject to availability.
Two reactors, two windows
Beznau stands still longer than Leibstadt, most recently around ten weeks from mid March for Beznau 1 and around nine weeks in late summer for Beznau 2. Both windows overlap with Leibstadt, and then there is little free in the whole corridor. We hold capacity in advance on request.
All year round, smaller teams
Both plants stay on the grid into the 2030s and are being renewed continuously for it, at Beznau under an announced programme of 350 million francs. Work on instrumentation and components also runs outside the outages. These assignments are smaller, often last several months, and are extended without a new contract.

Access around the clock
Arrival late at night or early in the morning, with no reception desk and nothing to arrange. Access works whatever the hour and whatever the day.
Floor plan up front
Every unit page carries its floor plan. You see how the rooms are laid out before you book, and there is nothing left to settle on arrival.
Cleaning by arrangement
Dates by arrangement rather than on a fixed weekday. It is always the same people, our own staff, never a changing outside firm in an occupied unit. Cleaning is invoiced separately, as a rule every two weeks.
Suited to both plants
These units are closest
Waldshut is closest to both plants, with Kadelburg and Lauchringen next. Beznau adds a few minutes from every location, but the order stays the same. From a crew of four to a full overhaul team, several units in the same place can be combined so that the journey is the same for everyone.
