With the railway expansion, Winterthur has a site that runs longer than any housing project in the region.
Four-track expansion to 2037
The upgrade of the line to Zurich runs at around 3.3 billion francs over more than ten years, partly on night shifts. Töss station and the 800 metre bridge at the Neumühle start in 2027, tunnelling in 2029.
Lokstadt
On the site of the former locomotive works, the last stage of a quarter built in phases over around ten years is under way. Two halls are being fitted out, and for the tower on the final plot the start is announced for 2027 and completion for 2030.
Neuhegi and Grüze
The east of the city is home to mechanical and plant engineering, plus building services and maintenance in existing buildings. These assignments are smaller than the railway sites, but they often last months and are extended without a new contract.
